Lost by Hazel Hunter

This is the sixth book in the Silverwood Coven series. Summer, Troy and Michael begin the story by dealing with a tragedy. To help cope with the tragedy they decide to visit the properties that her fathers left her in Canada. When they arrive they are invited to spend the evening with Summer’s mother’s old coven but the trio quickly realizes that things are not as they seem. Not only does the coven seem up to something but Troy and Michael discover a Templar group nearby that might cause trouble as well. Troy decides that the Emerald Tablet is the one keeping Summer, Michael and himself from living the life that they would choose to live and wants to separate the tablet from Summer once and for all. With the tablet separated from her she and Michael and Troy can be together without the constant fear of someone trying to hurt them and have as many children as they want.
Will Troy find a way of separating the tablet from Summer so they can all be together? What is the nearby coven up to? Will the Templar group try to hurt the trio? Find out in this installment of the Silverwood Coven.
This book took me a little while to get into. It jumps around a lot to build the next phase of the story which I anticipate will continue in book seven. I am intrigued by where the story is going but it was very sporadic in this book. I hope the story will come together more in book seven.

Overall I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.

The Bartender

If you are looking for a romantic comedy this is it! I laughed so hard while reading this book. Piper Rayne really knows how to get a reader to connect with the characters. I found myself not only laughing along with Whitney but identifying with her and cheering her on.
Whitney has just lost everything, or so it seems to her. She was living in Sacramento and lost her job due to a bad judgement call and now has had to move back in with her grandparents in San Fransciso. The only bonus is that her two best friends Lennon and Talia live in the city too so they will get to spend more time together. When Talia announces she is getting married Whitney is happy for her but also a little down on herself because it seems like her life is falling apart while everyone else is getting a happily ever after. She winds up at a bar by herself, gets really drunk, and goes home with the really cute bartender. Not really the kind of girl to pride herself in a one night stand she bails not knowing she would run into the bartender at Talia’s engagement party. Turns out the bartender is Cole Webber, Talia’s future brother-in-law and perpetual bachelor. When Cole and Whitney are named maid of honor and best man and therefore forced to work together will they be able to fight their mutual attraction or will they end up right back in bed together and maybe in each other’s hearts?
This book is laugh out loud funny and makes you believe in the power of destiny and true love. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next installment of the story.

I give this book 5 stars!

Blurb

“Who knew a bad boy could mend a broken heart."

What does a girl do after she discovers her fiancé is a cheating bastard?

In my case, I performed the ritual implosion of all scorned women. I drowned my sorrows in cases of white wine, wallowed in gallons of ice cream, and ignited a bonfire to burn away every damn remnant of his existence. Six months later, the only result was a permanent impression of my ass on the couch.

Adventure Dating my friends dared.
A new and exciting opportunity they said.
I thought they were crazy, but I’m not one to back down from a challenge, so I signed up for the entire four-week deal.

That’s where I saw HIM. Lucas Cummings. He isn’t the classic rich boy I usually end up with. The one whose idea of working up a sweat is waiting for his margarita to be served on the beach. Nope. He’s a rough and tough bad boy that all fathers warn their daughters about. You know the type. Cocky swagger, chiseled jaw—the ‘V’.

SOLD, I said to myself, until I discovered he was so much more than just a BOXER.

Left Hook.

Right to the heart.

Dance

If you love fairytales then this story is for you! The Dance is a new twist on Cinderella that combines the story of Cinderella and Mulan and gives the reader a love story and adventure all in one.
Mai, daughter of Yeoung Fu, has trained all her life in the martial arts dance with her father. After her mother dies her father is forced to remarry a woman from the capital. Jing doesn’t really fit in at the country house but Mai still welcomes her with open arms. Jing eventually gives birth to twin daughters but is never able to give her husband a son. When the emperor sends for reinforcements at the battle for the city of Dane Yeong Fu refuses to go. Mai decides she will go in his place to keep her family safe. Jing is a witch and puts an illusion on Mai to make her look like a man so she can go and fight.  When Mai reaches the battle field she is quickly recognized by all as a great fighter, even by the Emperor’s son Prince Yi. Prince Yi and Mai (who is known to the troops as Mao) become close friends but Mai begins to wish for something more between them. They both know that after this battle Prince Yi will have to go home and marry so he can eventually claim the thrown. Mai wishes it could be her that the Prince will marry but doesn’t think that can ever happen because of the illusion cast my Jing.
Will Mai and Yi be able to be together or will Mai have to choose between protecting her family and true love?
This book is a great rendition of Cinderella. Cinderella is one of my favorite fairy tales but I love that the author was able to make her a stronger character by showing how she could stand up for herself and save the day.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Crush Me

This is a dark romance that makes you question what you would do in a similar situation. Callie was a senior in college when she had an affair with her professor. He told her the whole time he was divorced from his wife but in reality he only wanted to use her. When she became pregnant he told her to get rid of the baby and pushed her aside. Callie decides to keep the baby and raise him but her family disowns her forcing her to raise the baby on her own. Her sister Shannon comes through and moves in with her to help her raise Charlie. When Charlie is two and a half David, her old professor, decides he and his wife want the baby and fight her for custody. David has a great team of lawyers funded by his wife’s trust fund so Callie must find a good lawyer and fast. She accepts a position as a personal assistant to Gentry, a high powered robotics company CEO, but quickly learns things aren’t always what they seem. Gentry begins using her not only for her mind but for her body as well asking her to do very inappropriate things at the office including attending a work lunch with an old college of his where he touches her under the table while the other man watches. Callie feels she has no choice but to keep the job because it pays so well and she needs the money for the lawyer. What she didn’t expect was to fall for the man at the lunch meeting. Jackson went to college with Gentry and is a robotics genius in his own right but didn’t let the power go to his head like Gentry. He is commanding yet gentle and romantic which is something Callie never let herself believe could be real. As the two get closer Callie decides to leave her job with Gentry and go work for Jackson and possibly explore a relationship with him but Gentry won’t make it easy to leave.
Will Callie be able to leave Gentry and find a future with Jackson? Will she ever get full custody of her son from her ex? Will she be able to hold her own with all the challenges thrown her way or will she be crushed by it all?
This is a very dark book and I won’t lie, I had to skim some parts because it made me feel uncomfortable. I found myself both celebrating with Callie in the happy times and crying with her during her challenges. She goes through what no one should have to go through in this story but when I ask myself if I would do the same to keep my son I found myself answering yes. This is a story of the growth of a young woman. I can’t wait to read the second installment of the story and see her rise like a phoenix from the ashes stronger than ever!

I give this book 5 stars!

Big Bad Alpha

I was a little disappointed in this story.  I love a good steamy romance novel but this one fell short for me.
Olivia is a waitress at a bar but she really wants to be a punk rock star. She and her band have signed up for the battle of the bands at the bar she works at because a high powered record CEO Cain is the guest judge. The winning band will also get a record deal with is label. The night of the concert Olivia decides to flaunt her assets to try to get an edge over the competition. Cain notices her and decides to give her his card and meet with her about cutting a demo of her song. The only catch is that she must be a solo act and leave out her bandmates.  Olivia was quick to throw her friends under the bus to get a demo done and to get Cain in bed. She lost my respect right there even though her friends seemed okay with it. Olivia and Cain seemed to make it a game to try to get each other in bed. It seemed more like a conquest than love.
Cain was also supposed to be an Alpha and while he seemed like one in the beginning in the fact that he was portrayed as a dominant but his character went downhill from there. He seemed more like a condescending jerk than an alpha to me.
Another thing that turned me off of this book was the dirty talk. It seemed really forced and the book would have been better had some of it been left out.

Overall I give this book 2 out of 5 stars.

Burn by Helen Hardt

This series gets better and better with each book. Helen Hardt is a masterful story teller who has the ability to weave sexy, romantic scenes into an amazing story that always keeps you guessing.
In this fifth installment of the Steel Brothers series we delve more into Melanie and Jonah’s relationship. When we last left Melanie she was fighting for her life in a garage with a running car. She had been abducted by a masked man and he had locked her in a garage trying to kill her by carbon monoxide poisoning. Melanie decides to fight for her life because she realizes that she is in love with Jonah Steel and can’t die without telling him. She miraculously frees herself and drives away from the scene to the hospital in the car that would have killed her. Jonah comes to her rescue in the hospital and takes her back to his house because Melanie can’t bring herself to go back to her condo where she was abducted. Melanie begins to learn to lean on Jonah and his love and support as she is healing from the physical and emotional aftermath of her attack but Jonah is beginning to feel guilt over the attack in his own way when he learns Melanie tried to call him during the attack but he ignored her call because he was mad at her. He is also fighting guilt over needing to tell his best friend Bryce that he suspects Bryce’s father, the town mayor, of being one of Talon’s attackers and possibly the man who abducted and tried to kill Melanie.
The Steel family is getting closer and closer to discovering who Talon’s attackers are and bringing them to justice but with every clue they discover they seem to find more questions. Will they ever be able to put the past behind them and bring all of Talon’s attackers to justice? Is Melanie’s attack related to Talon’s case? Will Jonah finally get past his guilt to build a life with Melanie or will he let his past ruin his future?
I love the relationship with Talon and Jade but I am really rooting for Jonah and Melanie. I love Jonah’s character and how complex he is. I love how he cares for his family and Melanie and will do anything in his power to make them happy even if that means putting his own needs aside. I can’t wait to read the next installment in this series.

I give this book 5 stars!

Rescued by Hazel Hunter

This is the first book in the Silverwood Coven series and the second series that I have read by Hazel Hunter. She is an amazing writer who perfectly combines a great story with steamy scenes.

Summer has been living in Central park alone for months since she woke up bloody and alone in the park. She has no memory of who she is or what happened to her. She has been getting by on the generosity of strangers until one night a strange man comes to her rescue.

Michael has been watching Summer for months. He is an immortal Templar and he has been hunting witches for centuries. He has observed Summer since she showed up in Central park. He believes her to be a witch but he becomes so infatuated with her that he decides to take her to where she will be safe.

Troy and Michael have had a truce since they had to save each other during the Crusades. Michael takes Summer to Troy so she can be safe. Summer is immediately attracted to Troy but can't deny her attraction to Michael as well.

Will Summer remember anything about her past? Will she be able to control her powers that are now coming to light? Will she be able to choose between Michael and Troy or will she have to?

Stolen by Hazel Hunter

Summer is getting settled into her new life as a witch in the Silverwood Coven. Troy, the warlock who is protecting her, is now her lover as well. The two are getting to know each other better as they are trying to figure out who Summer really is and what happened to her before she ended up in Central Park. Everything seems to be going well until Michael, the Templar who found her in Central park, comes back and takes her away from Troy.

Michael keeps telling himself that the only reason he took Summer away from Troy is to protect her from the other Templars hunting her but he can't deny the attraction he has to her. He soon gives up his celibate lifestyle and takes Summer as his lover. At first Summer feels guilt in being with Michael but she soon realizes she doesn't want to choose between the two of them.

Troy is devastated to find Summer missing and is determined to find her. He tracks her back to Michael's place and finds the two of them together. At first he is furious but then he realizes that he feels compelled to join them.

Michael, Summer and Troy are beginning to realize they all need each other in more ways than one and that being together might be the key to unlocking Summer's past and their future.

United by Hazel Hunter

Michael has had to choose between serving the Templar which he has done all his life and protecting Summer and Troy. He has chosen his friend and his lover to the dismay of the Templar. Now they are out to get him. He is still recovering from a brutal attack where he sacrificed himself to save Troy and Summer. Together Summer and Troy brought him back with the strange power that only comes when they are all connected. With no where else to turn they all go back to the Silverwood coven to seek refuge. They are not welcomed but Troy's father eventually relents and allows them to stay as long as Michael stays away from the coven.
Summer has come to terms with the fact that she and Troy and Michael must all be together for them to be bound together and her power to be fully realized but the men haven't decided if they are willing to share Summer even though they are beginning to understand that Summer's power might be the only thing that can protect both Templar and Wiccan from the threat that is to come.

Will the three of them be able to give in or is it already too late?

Revealed by Hazel Hunter

This is the fifth book in the Silverwood Coven Series. Michael, Summer and Troy cast a spell which results in a vision of Summer’s past. Summer now knows what her purpose in life is with Michael and Troy at  her side, the location of the Emerald Tablet, and her real name which is Genevieve Lautner. After they realize the truth Summer decides to bond with her mates permanently which creates a powerful change in her.
The traitor within the coven is finally revealed and the Silverwood Coven along with the other visiting covens must prepare to defend themselves against the Templars set on attacking them to get to the Emerald Tablet. Michael, Troy and Summer prepare in their own way for battle but what Troy and Michael don’t know is that Summer is planning on fighting this battle alone.
Will Michael and Troy be able to deal with Summer handling this on her own? Will Summer be able to protect the coven, her mates and herself?
This book answers so many questions that have been building from book one. The love between Michael, Summer and Troy is very intense but is also very sweet. I can’t wait to see how their relationship continues.

I give this book 5 stars.

Betrayed by Hazel Hunter

This is the fourth book in the Silverwood Coven series.  When we last left Summer she was pushed off a cliff and left for dead. Michael and Troy rushed to save her and brought her home to recover and vowed to find the person responsible for almost killing their mate.  Summer, Michael and Troy continue to bond making all their powers, especially Summer’s, even more powerful. This is great for the three mates but it makes them even more vulnerable to those who are seeking to destroy them. It’s not only outside forces that are seeking to destroy them but there is someone inside the coven that is a traitor to them as well. Will their love be able to survive the outside and inside forces wanting to keep them apart? Will they discover the traitor in time to save the coven and the others who are gathering for the Winter Solstice?
This series just keeps getting better and better with each book. It is so fast paced and leaves you wanting more. I can’t wait to read the next installment.

I give this book 5 stars!

Blurb

Who knew sleeping with the enemy could be this fun?

Was the one night stand a good idea?
Well, no. Probably not in retrospect.

In my defense I had just moved back into my grandparent’s house, I’d lost my dream job, and a guy on Tinder had stood me up. It was like life had suddenly stamped ‘LOSER’ on my forehead.

So when the guy behind the bar started giving me THE look…you know, the one that promised I’d be screaming his name into the wee hours of the morning? When that guy also has the perfect amount of scruff on his chiseled chin, biceps bulging out of his t-shirt, and a cocky grin you knew he’d earned in the sack…when he gives you that look, you don’t bother to figure out what your six degrees of separation are. You jump on that horse and ride it!

Pun fully and completely intended. And accurate by the way.

I fully admit to feeling sorry for myself and acting impulsively, but by the time I’d figured out WHO the bartender was, I was already falling for him.

An hour and a half later and hot stuff has come around the bar to take the seat beside me and join me on my mission to get shit-faced. I have to admit, I’m enjoying his company, but it doesn’t exactly make him Employee of the Year given the fact that he’s supposed to be working.

“Won’t your boss be mad that you’re drinking on the job?” I ask.

That damn dimple makes another appearance again before he answers. “Nah, he’s cool. It’s dead in here tonight. If anyone comes in, I’ll be sure they get what they need.” His gaze rakes up and down my small frame, and I get the distinct impression that he’s picturing me naked.

Jeez, I hope my nakedness looks amazing in his brain. Given the half-crooked smile on his face, I think it must. I wonder if his imagination is good enough to picture that dimple in my ass that doesn’t ever seem to want to disappear, regardless of how much I weigh.

As if he’s tempted fate with his words, the bell over the door dings and an older gentleman walks in and seats himself at one of the bar tables across the room.

“Be right back.” Cole pats my hand before he rises from his seat.

It was an innocent gesture, but it makes me think dirty things. The heat from his hand seeps up my arm like a bee sting and settles somewhere in my chest.

I watch him walk away and can’t help but notice the way his ass perfectly fills out his jeans. It bunches and flexes as his long strides take him across the bar. Maybe Lennon is right and it has been too long since I’ve been with a man.

It’s then that I realize that Tinder dude still hasn’t shown up. The bar isn’t busy, probably since it’s the middle of the week, and I’ve been chatting—okay, flirting—with Cole and hadn’t realized how much time had passed. I grab my phone from my purse and open the app to see that I have a new message.
Pussylickr69: Not coming. Sorry found someone else who wasn’t so much werk. Fury causes my face to heat as I type out a quick reply that might be, and by that I mean most definitely is, alcohol-fueled. Whiteebanter: Yeah, I can see how thirty minutes of conversation is too much foreplay for you. Fuck you and your lack of knowledge of the English language. You spell work with an ‘o,’ dipshit. There. That’ll show him. With a frown, I drop my phone back into my purse.

“Everything okay?” Cole asks as he takes the seat beside me again.

I sigh. “Yeah, I just found out that Pussylicker isn’t coming anymore.”

Cole nearly spits out the sip of drink he’s just taken and has a coughing fit before he fully recovers. “Excuse me?”

“I was waiting for a guy from Tinder to show up, but he just ditched me because apparently it was too much work to have a drink with me before taking me back to his place to bang me.” I spin my glass in place on the bar top.

“You’re trolling for guys on Tinder?” Cole howls with laughter so hard he has to hold his stomach. I love the way the laugh looks on his face—the way it crinkles his eyes at the corners and how it showcases his perfect teeth. But all that aside, it’s irritating.

“It’s not that funny.” This guy might be hot, but right now he’s working my nerves.

“Actually, it is. Why the hell would a woman like you resort to finding someone to fuck on a dating site?”

The way the word ‘fuck’ rolls off his tongue has all my womanly parts contracting and wishing that it was an invitation to do just that. But never mind that, because I’m annoyed at him, I just barely remember through my drunken haze.

“What do you mean a woman like me?” I try to do air quotes around the last part, but my balance isn’t what it was three hours ago, and I almost topple off my stool, so I quickly grab on to the bar in front of me.

“Beautiful. Intelligent. Likable. Smartass.” He ticks each word off on one hand while he speaks and he says it like he means it. I hold his stare for a minute before realization dawns.

“Hey! I’m a B.I.L.F. You know, like a M.I.L.F. Only different.” I’m so impressed that I thought of that given my current state.

Cole chuckles with an amused gleam in his eyes. “Only better,” he says.

Our gazes lock for a beat and it’s at that moment I know that if I offer myself up to this guy, he’ll be more than willing to send me on the walk of shame tomorrow morning. Heat rushes into my cheeks and I look away. As much bravado as I had earlier about my Tinder escapade, I’m not sure I can do this. Be this girl so full of confidence that she bangs a stranger with no qualms about it.

My elation has crash-landed on the ground as I realize I’m not able to pull the trigger and make an advance toward him. I also know I’ll probably regret it forever because this man is so far beyond good-looking that it’s a speck in the rear-view mirror. Not to mention the fact that he’s sexy as hell and seems to be a decent human being. Which is more impossible to find in the Bay area than someone who doesn’t think they’re allergic to gluten.

I take a deep breath and finish the last couple of gulps of my drink and push the glass in Cole’s direction.

“Another, please.”

Cole tosses back the rest of his drink and I watch as his Adam’s apple bobs in his throat while the liquid slides down.

Damn. That is sexy.

Why is that sexy?

“I’m going to join you for another as well.” He gets up off his bar stool and before walking away he comes to stand directly behind me. “Assuming you want me to stick around?”

His breath washes across my neck and my ear and I close my eyes for a brief moment to enjoy the sensation. “I’d like that,” I say with all honesty.

“Good. I know the first guy let you down, but don’t worry… I’ve been told I lick pussy like a boss.”

And with that, he walks away while I struggle to keep my heart from pounding out of my chest.

I’m out of my league with this guy. I know it and there’s a good chance that he knows it, too.

But ask yourself this, ladies… if you were called up to the big leagues from the minors, would you say no?

Synopsis
