October Winds by Katie Mettner

I have read quite a few of Katie’s books and they just keep getting better with each one I read. This one is my favorite so far.

October is on the run from her past hiding out in the small town of Zansaville living under the assumed name of Sara Banks. She works at a truck stop and lives in an old RV in the woods outside of town. She has spent her whole life in survival mode and now she is trying to get the old RV she lives in ready for the harsh Minnesota winter on her limited income from the truck stop. One the way home one night she runs into Sheriff Raven. The two have an instant connection and soon begin spending more and more time together.

Zansaville is a quiet town with very little crime so when a trucker is found dead in the dumpster of the truck stop the whole community is shocked. Sadly this is only the beginning of what could possibly be something bigger than just a dead trucker. Can Sheriff Raven solve the crimes before it is too late? Is October’s past coming back to haunt her in this crime spree? Will October and Sheriff Raven be able to get past all the obstacles in their way to finally be together?

I really enjoyed this book. I instantly fell in love with the relatable characters and was drawn into the mystery behind what brought October to Zansaville. I found myself cheering Sheriff Raven on the whole time while he was trying to convince October that not only was she worthy of love but that he was in love with her. I mean girl doesn’t want a man to take care of her and fight for the right to love her?

I give this book 5 stars and would highly recommend it.

To break a heart is easy.
All you have to do is reach in, wrap your blood covered hands around it, and pull.
 This happened to me.
Two hands, both red as my hair, did this exact thing.
Tore it away like it wasn’t made for me.
Maybe it was his to take?
Because years on, with those same blood red hands, he still has it.
In his hands. And he won’t give it back.
But the real question is, do I want it back.
He is dangerous, uncontrollable, and downright sexy.
I fell for it all, but in the end, he didn’t catch me he let me fall.

Savage Reckoning by TL Smith

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book better than the previous one. I'm not sure if it was that I was more invested in the characters and wanted to know how everything turned out or if this story was less choppy.

Milanka and Connick are obviously in love with each other but are having a hard time admitting it because both of them have such rocky pasts. They have a hard time leaning on other people and admitting they need anyone else in their lives. They have to learn to not only trust each other but trust themselves as well and hope for a better future.  Will their past ever stop catching up to them to allow them to find true peace with one another or is that just a dream?

I really liked Milanka and Connick's story and found myself feeling really sorry for both of them the way they grew up but happy that they had found each other. I'm not sure how this will ever work for them long term as they both have a lot they need to work through.

I give this book 5 stars because the characters are very interesting and you get sucked into their story.

Thor (Far Hope Series #1) by E.A. James

I received and ARC for this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is not the typical genre that I read but I wanted to try something different. This is a science fiction/action adventure book with a romantic twist toward the end.

Kira is a military pilot who is getting ready to go on leave when she is asked by her previous boss to transfer a prisoner. She decides to do him a favor because he was always nice to her and they are still close friends. While transporting the prisoner something goes wrong and they are attacked. During the attack the prisoner, Thor, helps Kira fight off the attackers and in the process shares with her why he was arrested and the real reason she was asked to transport him. Kira realizes that her friend and old boss is no longer on the side of justice and she decides to work with Thor to fight back. Will they be able to stop him before it's too late?

I gave this book 3 stars as it was a little slow to start for me and seemed to jump around a lot. Once I got into the story I started to like it but the characters were not very developed and it took too long to get interested in the book for me.

Untangle Me by Chelle Bliss

I received an arc of this book for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book and fell in love with the characters. I love that the characters are close to my age and I really identifed with Sophia as a book lover and hopeless romantic.

Sophia is a divorced school librarian who wants a love like she reads about in her romance novels. She wants a man who will not only sweep her off her feet but knock her socks off in the bedroom but she thinks she is too boring to find a man like that. One night while playing around on facebook she gets a message from Kayne, a friend of her brother's from school. The two have an immediate connection and finally agree to meet. When they meet sparks fly both in and out of the bedroom.  Sophia is learning to be a little less cautious and Kayne is falling fast for her but he has a past that is becomming more and more difficult to keep behind him. Will Kayne be able to overcome his past to have a future with Sophia or will the demons from his past pull him back in?

I highly recommend this book and give it 5 stars!

The Woodsman's Baby by Eddie Cleveland

I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. This is the first full length novel I've read by Eddie Cleveland and I will definitely be reading more! I loved Connor and Charlotte's love story! Friends to lovers romance is one of my favorites. I also love how Connor and Charlotte's brother were able to put aside their differences as well and Charlotte was able to stand up for herself.

Connor is an ex Navy Seal who has recently moved back to his hometown. He goes out for a drink one night with his friend and sees a girl at the bar who captures his attention. They spend the night getting to know one another and end up back at her house for what he thinks will be a one night stand. When he wakes up in the morning at her place he realizes that the girl he just slept with is his ex best friend's little sister.

Charlotte was always in love with Connor growing up but felt that the 5 year age difference would always be a factor and she could never have him. Now that both of them have reconnected they have such an amazing connection that she is sure they can make this work. Her brother Marcus does not want Charlotte anywhere near Connor as he is still upset with Connor over something that happened in high school.

Will Connor and Charlotte be able to overcome all the obstacles that seem to be in there way of their happily ever after?

I give this book 5 stars.

Savage Collision by TL Smith

I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I read this book in two days and am still confused after reading it. It's been a long time since I have been so captivated by a book and can't put my finger on why.

Milanka, the main character, is running from her past. She doesn't want to end up like her mother who was known as the town whore. Milanka is also running from her ex boyfriend who has a key to her past that could damage her forever.
She never gets too close to anyone and only uses men for one thing until she meets Connick. He gets under her skin like no other man ever has but he has secrets of his own that could destroy them both.

This book was very confusing as it jumps around a lot but it constantly leaves you wanting more and the cliff hanger at the end will leave you on the edge of your seat waiting till the next installment.

I give this book 4 stars.
