God of the Sun by Kimberly Loth
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book was a little different from the other books that I usually read. I'm new to this author but this will definitely not be the last book I read of her's and I can't wait for the next installment of this story.
Stella and Sol are two kingdoms that are only separated by a wall of mist. Where Stella is always covered in the darkness of night Sol is always in the sun. When a princess of Stella becomes pregnant and old woman makes a prophesy that unless the two kingdoms are united before the child's first birthday the child will die. Prince Leo of Stella will do anything to protect his sister's baby even if that means traveling to Sol.
The princess of Sol is very independent and has no desire to get married until she falls in love with the one person she can't have; a slave. As heir to the throne of Sol the princess is being highly encouraged by her mother to choose a husband and ready herself to become queen. When her mother discovers that her daughter is in love with a slave she tells her she must choose a prince to marry or she will have the slave killed. Rather than marry a prince from Sol the princess agrees to marry Prince Leo of Stella in the hopes that he can free the slave she loves and she can run away with him.
What starts as an engagement of convenience for both Leo and the princess quickly turns into something more as the two begin to spend more time together and develop feelings for one another.
Will the two have the chance to let these feelings grow or will outside forces try to keep them apart?
