This is the first book that I’ve read by Skye Warren and it won’t be the last! I love a steamy romance every now and then but it must have a great story line in it to keep me hooked and this book delivers on that.
Hannah, also known as Lola at the strip club, is an ex-foster kid with a sketchy past that she can’t seem to get over. Her father landed himself in jail when she was young and her mother never got over it and eventually killed herself from grief which landed Hannah in the foster care circuit. Hannah learned early on to protect herself by finding the toughest guy and sleeping with him to get protection from him. She can shut her emotions down until she meets Blue at one of her foster homes. The two have an instant connection but Hannah doesn’t feel worthy of anything beyond the physical with men so she lies and has Blue sent away.
Five years later Blue is back and working as the head of security at the strip club where Hannah works. He corners her one night after work and tells her that she owes him for what she did to have him sent away and he is ready to collect. Resigned to the fact that Blue won’t let this go, Hannah goes to his place on her day off to settle the score. Blue isn’t gentle and is also not satisfied with one night. Hannah, even though this wasn’t what she imagined it would be like with him, finds herself wanting more as well.
Will Blue and Hannah be able to let go of the past and find a way to move on together? Will Hannah see herself as worth of the possibility of being loved? Will Blue be able to convince her he already loves her no matter what?
Find out in this steamy, suspenseful romance. I give this book 4 out of five stars.
